It will be a great day when oppositions take a bipartisan approach in times of emergency like this.
Your vest looks great, love the colours.

Re:

It will likely bloom a little more with each washing.

Have a blast in Seattle! At least some of my yarn is going.

I usually don't comment on your politics (not living in your country, it always feels like I'm commenting on the neighbours marriage, it's just rude) But I am really baffled over the whole health care thing. Every time I visit the States, the clerks in the stores, the taxi drivers and all the other "little" people have said they'd like to move to Canada for the health care. This is the first comment they make when I say I'm Canadian. Now I hear all the hysteria.... guess if you utter the same half truths enough times, they become the truth in people's minds (isn't that called the The Big Lie?)
And the Pres. drank the wrong kind of beer. Over and over and over on CNN. Who cares? For heaven sake.

Re:

If you had asked people before the healthcare debate started, what was their biggest concern next to the economy, health care/insurance issues would have been on top of mind.

now the debate is skewed to 'we cant afford it' meaning that people would rather gamble with their homes, retirement accounts, and financial health when they get sick.

someone needs to get people to understand that when you get sick and insurance companies deny deny deny, the bankruptcy court is the cure if we dont address this gaping hole in the fabric of american society.

enough ranting....
nice vest!

Re:

I particularly loved seeing a protester holding a sign that said (paraphrased), "Goverment hands off my Medicare!" If that isn't a disconnect, I don't know what is. I just get so angry thinking about the people behind this message--keeping the poor ignorant, as usual...

Your vest is so fantastic. Is the armhole edging applied I-cord?

Re:

I've SWORN not to discuss politics anymore because it's no longer about discussing, it's all about arguing, and when people get their opinions from Fox News, well, there's just no conversation possible. But you inspire me to chime in that not only are the conservatives kvetching, they seem to be on a mission to make sure Obama can't do anything; the motive being to win the next election. Have they forgotten that we're paying them to improve this country? Liberals, you do this too, so don't thing I'm letting you off. Just saying. -- Keep up with the gorgeous knitting. Love the vest.

Re:

It is very striking on.

I think the Conservatives believe their agenda is so right that they will do anything to destroy the opposition. Just look at all the lies and distortions are out there on the health care agenda. My experience is that Conservatives thrive on fear. One of my "friends" who is very right wing actually has a "Palin for Vice President" bumper sticker on her gas guzzler. Although this group of friends is comprised of high achieving, professional women, she could not admit that Palin was/is a diaster. I'll never get it!

Re:

It seems that the Republicans really got going in this destructive direction when Ken Starr was assigned the task of looking into Whitewater. He took it in every other direction and wouldn't let up---hell with the country. Even though the Republicans should have been comfortable during W's reign, they continued their un-American banter via the airwaves. We Dems haven't figured out a way to combat (for lack of a better word) their vitriol in a way that doesn't compromise our values, so it continues.

Love the vest! Just imagine...only a couple of weeks ago it was just a spark of an idea and now you're modeling (quite well, I might add) the finished version. Ah...knitting.

Re:

I find it most laughable that they're telling government to get out of healthcare, but say nothing about the Medicare or Tricare/Champus programs already in place. They also don't want bailouts, yet when the companies were getting ready to fail they were screaming to protect American jobs. You can't have both, children.

Re:

Sad, but very true. They'd rather go down in flames with a Republican in charge than live with anyone else. And, unfortunately, they take whatever Limbugger and Co say as gospel rather than do their own homework and make up their own minds.

Re:

They are being whipped into a frenzy of anger and are becoming a "mob." If they could only step back, take an impartial look and think for themselves they would see how stupid they look to the people of this country that use their intellect.

I suppose they think the same about me because I watch Keith Olberman and Rachael Maddow, but if you check out what THEY say, it's pretty much the truth.

I get so sick of those frickin' e-mails my conservative relatives send me. I try to send a disclaimer from Snopes whenever I can and I do a "reply to all."

OK, off my soapbox.

Re:
